Sorrel & Punch Recipe
- 8 cupswater
- 6 ouncesJamaican sorrel (dried hibiscus flowers)
- 5 ouncessliced fresh ginger
- 4whole cloves
- 1cinnamon stick
- 3scrapes from a whole nutmeg (optional)
- 1 cupJamaican white rum (optional)
- 1 to 1 1/2 cupssimple syrup
- Juice of 1 orange (about 1/2 cup)

- Orange slices, for garnish
- Bring the water to a boil in a large saucepan over high heat. Remove from the heat and add the Jamaican sorrel, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg if using. Cover and let steep for 1 hour.
- Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl. Discard the dried sorrel and spices.
